| Dhaka Polytechnic Institute is the oldest Polytechnic Institute in Bangladesh. It was established in 1955 with only 120 students in the first year classes of Diploma-In-Engineering in four technologies, namely, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and power with the growing demands of mid-level technical manpower home and abroad the Institute has since greatly expended. The Institute now offers courses in Eleven technologies. |

| The Institute is located at Tejgon Industrial Area about four kilometers from the of the city (towards north) and on the east side of Dhaka–tongi highway about 100 meters north of is intersection, satrasta. It how over covers an area of about 27 acres of land. |

| Dhaka Polytechnic Institute operates under the executive control of the ministry of education, Government of the peoples Republic of Bangladesh acting through the Directorate of Technical Education. The academic program’s, however, function under the regulation of the Bangladesh Technical Education Board , Agargaon, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Dhaka -1215. |
